kick cold and flu season

Jacob Skaggs

There are still a couple of months left in cold and flu season. While getting your flu shot and taking the necessary medicine is always advised, here are a few of our favorite natural remedies for getting back to better health.

eat your greens  Cruciferous vegetables are rich in vitamins and boost cell-surface proteins that help support a healthy immune system.

raise your heart rate  Movement in the form of light exercise or yoga accelerates the circulation of disease-fighting white blood cells.

drink green tea  It's rich in antioxidants that help rid the body of free-radicals from environmental and food related toxins. Add lemon for vitamin C and an extra kick of antioxidants and add honey to help soothe coughing and sore throat. Steeping with ginger helps improve blood flow and prevents chills, fever, and nausea.

take zinc  Taking zinc 24 hours after feeling symptoms has shown to reduce duration and severity of cold/flu.

the ultimate chicken noodle soup

Perhaps the most classic way to ease your cold symptoms. Chicken noodle soup is great for clearing nasal congestion and easing inflammation.
